I fell in love with Maryland’s beauty and rich history during my time as an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. After living in several other states over the past fifteen years, I decided to return to the place where I began my adult life, and to the people who welcomed and helped guide me throughout my collegiate career and beyond.
I established The Carter Law Firm and selected my practice areas to help others with life stories similar to my own. I grew up in a blended family after losing my mother at age eleven. Over the next three years, I also lost my two God-brothers and my grandfather. I know grief intimately. In addition, I know how the presence or absence of an estate plan can impact the lives of the people we love most.
I am also personally familiar with divorce. Yes, I have experienced that, too. I am aware of the tremendous emotional and financial impact the decision to dissolve a marriage has—not only on the spouses—but the children, the in-laws, and all those connected.
Although I am not a licensed therapist, I will listen. I will empathize with you. I will show compassion. Moreover, I will encourage you as I advocate on your behalf and guide you in organizing your legal affairs. I am proud to say, our clients and our community are the heartbeat of the Carter Law Firm.
This estate planning organizer and journal was inspired by three beautiful women that I have loved and lost–my mother, my grandmother, and my cousin.
This Planner will help you identify your family, assets, and pertinent documents to gather in the case of your incapacity or demise. The final portion includes a journal, which will allow you to share some of your story, pass on memories, and remind those left behind of your love for them.
As an estate planning attorney, I talk to families all the time about creating their estate plans. Young, old, wealthy, middle class, low income, it does not matter. In my opinion, planning is crucial. I have created this book for you and for the ones you love. With all my heart, I hope you will utilize this Planner in its entirety, and that it is a helpful resource and a gift to you and your families.
