Divorce in Maryland Can be Easier and Less Expensive…
Effective October 2018, Maryland amended its rules for mutual consent divorce. Now, Parties with minor children are also permitted to use this “no-fault” grounds to divorce. What does this mean for you? It means that you can save litigation costs and time.
This is what you need to know:
The Court may grant your divorce if (1) Parties sign and submit a written Settlement Agreement and Child Support Worksheet, if applicable; and (2) neither party contests the agreement prior to the hearing. If the Court determines the agreement, as it pertains to the minor children, is indeed in the best interest of the children, then the Court may grant your divorce.
